SMS is a three-layer composite: two outer spunbond layers enclosing a central meltblown layer. The meltblown core is the differentiator. It is produced by blowing molten polypropylene through a die into ultra-fine microfibres, typically in the 1 to 5 micron range, creating a dense filtration matrix that plain spunbond cannot replicate.

What is PE laminated non-woven fabric?

PE laminated non-woven is a composite: a polyethylene film bonded to a non-woven substrate, usually SBPP or SMS. The PE film gives full liquid impermeability that neither SBPP nor SMS alone can achieve. It is the most protective and most expensive of the three, and the least breathable.

How to specify non-woven fabric on a bulk purchase order

The most common sourcing error is under-specifying the fabric. “Disposable coverall in non-woven fabric” gives a supplier almost unlimited latitude to substitute materials. A properly specified order prevents that.
